1) Add an extra layer

Your windows and glazed doors can lose heat and let in drafts through tiny gaps and cracks, so double up on your window dressings and you’ll add an extra insulating layer where you need it most. Give voile curtains a boost by adding a second pair of curtains in a heavier weight fabric and layer curtains over blinds for a cosy feel. If you want to make your room feel really snug, choose thicker thermal linings for your curtains.

2) Make the most of the daylight

Short days and long dark nights can seriously affect your mood and motivation, so pick window dressings that offer flexible control over light levels. Slatted window dressings are ideal for large windows and doors, as they provide privacy but also allow lots of light to filter through the slats. You can tilt the slats to control the amount of light coming through, or close them completely when you want to create a cosy ambience. Shutters, Venetian blinds and Vertical blinds are all good options for controlling light levels.

3) Invest in quality flooring

A good quality carpet and underlay can really make a room. Soft and sumptuous underfoot, there’s no better feeling than throwing off your shoes after a hard day and sinking your toes into a warm and luxurious carpet. For a naturally cosy feel, invest in a pure wool or wool blend carpet, and for the busiest areas of the home, choose a hardwearing, stain-resistant style.

4) Get snuggly with cushions

Cushions are a quick and easy way to make a room feel instantly warm and inviting. Combine tactile textures, such as wool, silk and velvet, and mix up patterns, prints and plains to create interest. All our curtain fabrics are available as cushion covers, so it’s really easy to pull together a look you love.

5) Get conservatories cosy

Conservatories, garden rooms and glass extensions are wonderful in the summer, but during the cooler months they can feel cold and uninviting. Make the most of these light and airy spaces all year round with innovative blinds that help to control light and temperature. Our range of Pleated blinds come with a host of benefits, including thermal options which actively trap heat, as well as day and night blinds which allow you to combine two blinds in one, giving you the benefit of lots of gorgeous light during the day and thermal qualities in the evening.
