Modern interiors are moving away from cool grey and towards warmer, more lived-in shades. Drawing on what our advisors are seeing in real homes across the country, we’ve gathered some of the living room colour ideas proving popular this year.

White walls may not sound very cosy. But we love how light and bright they look, especially in a sunny south-facing room. Choose a shade with a touch of cream or taupe – think chalky, not stark – then add warmth and personality through colourful, eclectic art and furnishings.
This Roman blind from our collection with Jonathan Adler makes a real feature of the bay window, while the warm blue colour adds a fresh, coastal feel.

Living rooms are made for relaxation, so it’s not surprising that soothing neutral shades remain a popular choice. To bring it up to date, avoid cool tones, which can feel impersonal. Instead, look at warm neutrals, from biscuity beige to soft, buttery yellow.
Don’t be afraid to mix old and new styles – it’s the different materials and textures in this room that make it feel extra cosy. We also love the soft light filtering through the Day and Night blinds.
I love a neutral colour palette, which allows me to easily swap out fabrics, throws, and cushion covers with the seasons.

Plaster pink is another colour featuring heavily in modern living rooms. Choose a muted, earthy shade for a room that’s sophisticated and easy to live with, but still bursting with character and warmth.
Depending on how you use it, pink can be as calming or as impactful as you like. It also pairs beautifully with natural materials and neutral tones, like this Roman blind from our Jonathan Adler collection.

Mid-century modern is still big news for interiors. If you want in, pick from a retro-inspired palette of teal, olive green, burnt orange and mustard yellow.
Again, muted, slightly ‘muddy’ shades feel more liveable than bright jewel-toned colours. Bold geometric patterns, used across artwork, rugs, cushions and curtains, are another hallmark of this style.

Technically this room falls into the neutral category – but the beautiful natural woods are undoubtedly the star of the show. Leafy plants add freshness and soften the rigid lines, while art and soft furnishings bring pattern and texture.
Wooden blinds give such a timeless look. We decided to have matching blinds in the bedroom and the living room because from the outside it looks really nice and cohesive.
