What are Roman blinds?

Roman blinds are made out of fabric that gradually folds up in a concertina style as the blind is opened.  You can see this fabric even when the blinds are open, so choose a stylish, sumptuous fabric from our huge range, and coordinate with your décor.

Roman blinds offer elegant styling with a neat finish, and are also available with electric control for simple operation at the touch of a button.

Why should I choose Roman blinds?

Roman blinds are great for:

  • Creating a fuller, more luxurious look with interlining
  • Reducing light in bedrooms with blackout linings
  • Pairing with curtains for added warmth and style
  • Upgrading with electric motorisation for remote control operation

Can Roman blinds reduce heat loss?

Windows are responsible for up to 20% of a home's heat loss. Adding a made-to-measure blind that fits snugly at your windows will help to stop this precious heat escaping through your windows. Our Roman blinds are lined as standard, but if you’d like a fuller, more luxurious look, choose our interlining option to add a thick layer of insulation.

We have selected a Lora Emerald Roman blind from our Margo Selby Collection to make a dramatic, bold statement in this Victorian home. It sits proudly within the window recess, minimising heat loss, and keeping a neat and streamlined aesthetic.

Can I have blackout linings for my Roman blinds?

Yes. All of our Roman blind fabrics are available with a blackout lining.

Blackout linings help to block the light for a better night’s sleep. They also help to retain the heat in your home by reducing heat loss through your windows, so your room will be cosier too.

Can Roman blinds be motorised?

From operating multiple blinds to helping with mobility issues, motorisation is a smart solution you can add to your Roman blinds.

Making life at home more comfortable, our innovative motorised blinds use Somfy’s marketing leading technology to combine style and technology, letting you effortlessly open and close multiple Roman blinds all with the touch of a button.

It’s a super helpful solution if your windows are in awkward places like behind furniture, or high up out of reach in a conservatory or at a bay window, and are perfectly suited for customers with mobility issues.

Where do Roman blinds look best?

Roman blinds are made from the same fabric as curtains, and are a perfect choice for living rooms, dining rooms and bedrooms because of their luxurious finish. They are also ideal for bay windows because they add luxury and elegance, without detracting from the window's architectural beauty.

Choosing our made-to-measure products means you're guaranteed a neat and tidy finish as your local advisor will install your blinds to perfection. Measuring and fitting is included.
