Anna on moving home

We’ve teamed up with TV presenter and journalist Anna Richardson to help transform her new home with stunning shutters and blinds. Here, she shares her experience and shows us the finished results.

Create spaces that suit your lifestyle

Anna designed this dining space for entertaining, but wasn’t sure how to dress the huge tri-fold doors. “It wasn’t until I moved in that I realised it was an awful lot of light and heat coming in, plus a real lack of privacy,” says Anna. She chose simple Roller blinds to match the contemporary feel of the room and had them motorised so they can be controlled via remote control.

My advisor suggested Motorised blinds. We don’t have to keep fiddling with chains to adjust them and they tuck away neatly at the top of the doors when we open them.

Don’t be afraid to experiment

Initially, Anna struggled to see how colour could work in her guest en-suite, but her advisor helped her find the perfect shade. “I wasn’t sure about coloured shutters, but now they’re in there it’s actually my favourite room in the house,” says Anna. The shutters complete this cosy bath nook and maintain the room’s vintage styling.

He showed me the shutters on the visualisation app and instantly I could see how they would work in the space. I’m so glad I took his advice.

Combine flexibility and style

Anna chose simple white shutters for her bedroom to offset the busy wallpaper and give her better control over light. “There’s so many different ways to adjust them to get different levels of light in the room, which I love. I can tilt the louvres up or down or open the panels totally. Plus, they’re really simple against the wallpaper,” says Anna.

We hadn’t really thought about how important window dressings were going to be, so having an expert in who could help me make the right choices was so helpful.

Try before you buy

Anna’s advisor, Dave, used his visualisation app to show Anna what the finished product would look like in her windows and help her decide on colours and styles. “For someone who struggles to picture what blinds and shutters are going to look like, it was a real life saver. Especially with the shutters in the bathroom, I could instantly see the difference the colour would make,” says Anna.
