Which windows suit Wooden blinds?

Wooden blinds offer a classic, timeless style which suits all styles of homes. Within our collection we have real Wood, Faux Wood and Bamboo blinds. These are available in natural wood stains and painted finishes in a range of colour options. Wooden blinds bring a natural beauty to your home, while Faux Wood blinds are a practical and stylish alternative that can withstand moisture and are easy to wipe clean. We would always recommend Faux Wood blinds for bathrooms and kitchens, as humidity and moisture may cause Wooden blinds to warp.

Our Natural Bamboo collection, made from ethically sourced, self-regenerating bamboo, is lightweight, and versatile. These blinds can be made to fit windows up to three metres wide, so are a great solution for wide windows and doors. The slats are thinner too, so the stacking height at the top of the window is reduced, allowing more light into your room and a bigger view outside.

What is the difference between Electric and Smart Blinds?

Our electric blinds are powered by Somfy's marketing leading motorised technology. When fitting your blinds your local advisor will install a small, hidden motor unit that is connected to a remote handset, letting you control your blinds with the simple touch of a button.

If you choose to make your electric blinds Smart, you'll still be able to use the remote, but will also have the option to control your blinds with a mobile app or via voice command. The Somfy  Smart Hub gives you even great flexibility to control the light, privacy and security by connecting to your Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, or mobile phone so you can control your blinds even when away from home

Somfy's motorised and smart technology is available on Roller, Roman, Day & Night, Faux Wood and Wooden Venetians, and Pleated Roof blinds.

What colour options are available?

Our Wooden blinds are available in a range of natural wood stains and painted finishes including whites, creams, greys and black. 

Are Wooden blinds an effective blackout option?

Wooden blinds will dramatically reduce the amount of light coming into your room and improve privacy, as you can't see through the slats of the blinds once they're shut.

However, some light can seep in between slats when they are closed, or creep around the sides of the blind. To create a darker environment, layer over another blind, for example a Roller blind made with a blackout fabric, or under a Roman blind with a blackout lining. Wooden blinds look beautiful when teamed with curtains too.

Can Wooden blinds be cut to size?

Will Wooden blinds keep my room warmer?

Closed Wooden blinds will reduce heat loss through your windows. However, for optimum thermal properties, we recommend our energy-efficient Thermal blinds with Thermashade™ technology, which create a cosy layer of insulation. Alternatively, layer your Wooden blinds with Thermal curtains.
