Model Daisy Lowe and her fashion and textiles designer mum, Pearl Lowe go all out to create the perfect boudoir. Discover more about Pearl's uniquely chic look.
The starting point for Pearl’s bedroom design was the pink and cream floral print wallpaper. To complement, but not compete with the pattern, Pearl chose a plain fabric for her curtains. Clarence Chemise is a luxurious faux-silk fabric in a delicate pink shade. Next Pearl accessorised her look with a selection of cushions covered in the same gorgeous faux-silk fabric, and added in feminine florals in complementary shades.

Stepping into Pearl Lowe’s home is like taking a walk through a golden age of interior design. Art deco, Victoriana and boho styles vie for attention in every room. Here the fashion and textile designer gives us a masterclass in mixing up vintage styling to create a look that’s rooted in the past but still feels contemporary and fresh.
There’s no getting away from it, Pearl’s bedroom design is very pink. But rather than feeling sickly sweet, Pearl has managed to pull off a sophisticated, glamorous and decadent feel. With the perfect ballet shoe pink, balanced out with creamy vanilla tones, Pearl has created a look that’s as rich and dreamy as an ice cream sundae. Throughout the room, from the wallpaper to the cushion covers and upholstered bedroom chair, floral prints abound. And the luxurious faux-silk Clarence Chemise curtains on the double aspect windows act as the sumptuous wrapping to this wonderful gift of a room.
It’s important to remember that houses are for living in and, as this is a guest bedroom, it was important to Pearl that guests feel instantly comfortable and cosy in the space. By choosing thermal linings for the curtains, the room is given an extra insulating layer that keeps cold draughts at bay. This extra thick lining also lends a full and fabulous feel to the curtains that’s in keeping with the glamorous look.

1800 882 917Pearl Lowe is renowned for her love of vintage interiors and textiles, and her Somerset home is a treasure trove of curated antiques and flea market finds, with a dash of rock ‘n’ roll rebellious energy thrown in for good measure.
We challenged Pearl to style one of the bedrooms in her home using Hillarys fabrics, and Pearl jumped at the chance to transform an unloved guest bedroom into an elegant and decadent boudoir. Pearl was confident too, that with their shared love of vintage style, daughter Daisy would deliver a stunning look in her own London bedroom.
Pearl’s perfect pink
If you thought that an all pink bedroom is just for little girls, then Pearl Lowe’s grown-up glamour puss design will make you think again. The trick is to find just the right shade of pink – Clarence Chemise is warmer than blush, softer than cerise and nowhere near neon. Add a dollop of warm vanilla and you’ve got all the ingredients for an interior fit to grace the cover of an F Scott Fitzgerald novel.
Pearl’s tips for a fabulous finish
Like all period properties, Pearl’s Georgian house can feel draughty, and so Pearl chose thermal linings to create an extra layer of insulation at the window. Not only do thermal linings keep the room feeling cosy, but Pearl also loves the extra fullness that a thicker lining creates, making the curtains feel even more luxurious.
Measuring and fitting included
Pearl’s Georgian home is built from local stone, and unlike modern builds, has wonky walls and ceilings that all add to its period charm. And luckily for Pearl, our expert advisors know just how to deal with the challenge of measuring and fitting curtains and blinds to every style of window, including Georgian casements. And I’m sure you’ll agree, the finish in Pearl’s bedroom is flawless.
