Pantone's colour of the year, Ultra Violet is an intense hue that will perk up any interior design scheme. And I'm all about the perking!

Pantone Colour of the Year 2018

Ultra Violet - Styled by Sophie Robinson

When Pantone announced Ultra Violet as the Colour of the Year 2018 we knew exactly who we needed to show us how to style this bold, expressive hue. Cue TV presenter, interior designer and self-confessed colour lover Sophie Robinson. Watch as she puts Ultra Violet through its design paces.

  • Ultra Violet is dramatic, provocative and thoughtful
  • This bold shade suits classic and contemporary styling
  • Choose our Sorana Violet curtains for a statement look
  • Made-to-measure curtains create a bespoke finish

Sophie Robinson’s colour credentials are impeccable. The living embodiment of maximalism, Sophie designs to the mantra ‘more is more’. One thing Sophie’s designs are most definitely not is boring. She artfully curates a myriad of eclectic pieces and allows them to jostle for position, creating a tangible buzz of joyful exuberance.

Pantone’s choice of Ultra Violet as the Colour of the Year 2018 is a bold one. Rather than focussing on the uncertainty of modern times, this blue-purple shade nods to the starry night sky and promises infinite possibilities for us to re-imagine a better future.

From a design perspective Ultra Violet offers a whole spectrum of opportunities, from highly original interiors full of texture and contrast to blended shades that subtly express one’s own design personality.  Sophie’s gorgeous design has found the sweet spot between these two extremes – a lovely liveable scheme that throws up some delightfully unexpected touches.

For her design makeover Sophie selected a striking painterly floral print from the Indigo Garden collection. To add drama, Sophie positioned four individual curtains around the feature bay window. The striking pattern anchors the whole scheme, giving Sophie a strong base on which to build her design. Cushions covered in complementary fabrics add coherence to the overall look.
