Jen Stanbrook is a multi-award winning interiors blogger, writer and presenter. In her blog www.lovechicliving.co.uk, Jen shows her ardent followers how to create chic family homes that don’t come with a designer price tag. She promises readers:  ‘you won’t feel intimidated here’.

We predict that emerald green will be one of the must-have interior shades for 2017. So we challenged Jen to create a Christmas themed Pinterest board to show you how to work this most specific of jewel shades. With crafts, wrappings and a selection of Hillarys fabrics, Jen didn’t disappoint. See her seasonal suggestions here…

Tip 1: Invest in quality
This shade is incredibly decadent and luxurious, so is best shown off using sumptuous fabrics that really emphasise the rich depth of colour. Plush velvet, silk and cashmere are tantalisingly tactile and because this colour is so vibrant, you only need a cushion or a throw to create a huge impact. Jen has picked out our stylish solid wooden shutters to complement this historical hue. With our custom colour service, we can match your shutters to virtually any shade.

Tip 2: Accessorize with aromatic botanicals
Christmas is synonymous with seasonal sights and smells, most notably the fresh smell of pine, the warm distinctive aroma of cinammon and the herby notes of rosemary, bay and thyme. Jen has included lots of fabulously crafty ideas that incorporate aromatic herbs and seasonal foliage.  To complement the botanical theme, Jen has picked out the zestry citrus tones of our House Beautiful Cascade Citrine curtains.

Tip 3: Team with luxe metallics
Our love affair with precious metals is set to continue next year, and emerald green with gold is a classic combination that is no longer confined to christmas wrappings. Gilt mirrors, sequined cushions and throws, gold leaf and the warm glow of twinkling fairy lights and candles, all have their place in an emerald green Christmas theme. Jen has included the mellow jade tones in our stylish curtains as the perfect complement for an opulent Christmas table.

Tip 4: Make a statement with monochrome

Emerald green works really well with monochrome accents and strong geometric shapes. Black and white chequerboard patterns, chevrons, spots and stripes can either combine to create an elegant vintage feel  or add a contemporary twist to a period property. Try Alba Emerald Vertical blinds as a contemporary window dressing for your classic monochrome scheme.
