As the clothes we see on the catwalk increasingly influence the way we decorate our rooms, home interest magazines have begun to mirror their high-fashion counterparts. Each month, we will take an in-depth look at an emerging trend and offer ideas on ways to use this in your interior.
You can never predict the weather in this country, but spring has officially sprung, so we’re expecting a few April showers. And it seems that many designers share the same opinion, as lots have channelled wonderful watery scenes in their SS15 collections.
Watercolour prints were all over the catwalks, with models strutting down the runways in impressionist inspired outfits. An entire rainbow of colours was offered, with the cheery blooms at the Michael Kors show contrasting with Christian Dior’s monochrome ensembles.
Unsurprisingly, the high street has followed suit with an array of painterly pieces. These are sure to go down a storm, especially now the wedding season is fast approaching. Here at Hillarys, we particularly love these pretty pastel dresses from Coast.
If you’re a fan of this look, the good news is that it’s easy to apply to your décor as well as your wardrobe! Monet-style florals bring an artistic feel to virtually any space. All that’s left is to choose your favourite palette.
In our bathroom, we were inspired by the vivid flowers displayed at Michael Kors. We wanted to inject a touch of vibrancy into our surroundings, and this Wild Poppies Gold Roman blind from our exclusive Country Retreat range fitted the bill beautifully.
While over in our living room, we took a leaf out of Christian Dior’s book and plumped for striking black and white tones. These Nova Black curtains and Tetbury Black Roman blind are from our new collection.
This Aquarelle Mineral motif is also one of our latest designs. We went down the Coast route in our dining room, with soft pastels and gentle brushstrokes. Our delicate powder blue curtains have a lovely whimsical appeal.
And when it came to dressing our bedroom, we went for the same pattern, but plumped for a different type of window treatment and colour-way. These arty Aquarelle Mulberry Roman blinds supply the perfect finishing touch in our dreamy feminine scheme.
