What we say about velvet curtains

Velvet is naturally a heavy fabric so your curtains will have a beautiful full look at the window.

The thick nature of this luxurious material not only blocks out light but makes it perfect for insulation too, helping keep your space feeling cosy and warm.

Pair with a blackout or thermal lining for an extra layer of comfort and warmth

For a room that oozes opulence, choose crushed velvet curtains in a monochromatic colour scheme. Shades like deep burgundy, royal blue, or emerald green will really enhance the richness of your décor

Mix up the vibe with different header styles from modern wave curtains to relaxed and rustic velvet pencil pleat curtains.

    Questions on our Velvet curtains?

Here are some of our frequently asked questions (FAQs) about velvet curtains. If you have a question about our service or your appointment, please see our general FAQs here.

    How heavy are velvet curtains?

Velvet curtains are made with a naturally thicker fabric, and so they can be heavier than standard curtains. Because of this, it's essential that your curtain pole or track is properly installed. If you choose a curtain pole or track from our range your local advisor will fit it for you and take care of all the details. It's really that easy.

Is velvet fabric a good choice for curtains?

Velvet is an excellent choice because it provides a full and luxurious look at your windows. Its natural thickness means it may help reduce heat loss at your windows too, especially when combined with a thermal lining from our range. Our velvet fabrics are also available in a beautiful array of colours, from elegant grey or silver to eye catching pink or blue.

Can you have velvet curtains in a bedroom?

Velvet curtains are a perfect choice for bedrooms, as they will add a luxurious and elegant feel to your space. You can also change to a blackout lining, from our range. Blackout linings help to reduce light levels and ensure a good night’s sleep, no matter what time of day it is.

    Can you wash velvet curtains?

All of our curtain fabrics are dry clean only, but there are plenty of ways to keep your velvet curtains fresh for longer. The easiest way to clean your velvet curtains is to use the soft brush attachment of your vacuum cleaner, designed for furniture items and upholstery. Our curtains cleaning guide contains more handy hints on caring for your curtains.

How to get creases out of velvet curtains?

A hand-held steam cleaner works a treat when getting any creases or wrinkles out of velvet curtains. For more handy hints on caring for your curtains, take a look at our curtains cleaning guide.

    Are velvet curtains blackout?

Velvet curtains are made of a naturally thick and warm material, which helps to reduce light. If you like your room really dark at night, you could consider upgrading to blackout curtain lining from our range. This helps to block sunlight, for a better night's sleep.
